Friday's Prune of the Day

Today's prune of the day goes to Mr Payne, who recieved a double nomination for piste collisions. His main votes came from his collision with Miss Brown who was stationary on the slope. He recieved his hat from yesterday's winner Daniel.
Tomorrow's prune of the day will be nominated before we leave. Can you guess who it will be? All will be revealed when they get off the bus.

The Pussy Cat Dolls

Hello World! Being the crazy people we are, in our room on Wednesday night we decided to paint our selves whiskers and pretended to be cats. To our suprise Miss Brown walked in on us and dared us to walk through the bar in the hotel! (how embarassing!) Mr Brewer then caught us on camera and nick named us the pussy cat dolls.

Paddocks Press

One thing that really annoyed Mr. Brewer was when Naomi and I were skiing down the mountain  having a chat and weren't really concentrating on what we were supposed to!  At least we didn't crash!

Gymnastics on Snow

i'm used to people cartwheeling over me, but i've never had a snowboarder jump over me. I was travelling across the mountain alongside a snowboarder. I swerved towards him and crashed. As I feel he jump right over me and carried on down the mountain. i also went down a red slop today twice for the first time and didn't fall over once

The Skiing

By Ming XW(8J)

At first, I feel really nerves about this whole skiing thing but when I actually tried it, it feels great! We learned how to control the skis and how to speed up. I have learned a lot of things this ski trip, it is really fun.

Gardham takes gold with Chanty in Silver position!!!

A Rookwoods first sees Matt Chant beaten into silver position by Jake G in todays ski test. Matt commented that it was a one off and sports day will see me take revenge. Jake is the first only person to achieve this grade. An outstanding achievement which looks good for his GCSE assessment

Thursday's Prune of the Day

Today's prune of the day goes to Daniel Scott. He was awarded the hat for his abilities to talk French to impress girls from another school, whilst on the chair lift. Unfortunately, whilst exisiting he took a tumble in front of his group and impressed his new found friends even more.
Congratulations Dan for practicing your French in preperation of your exams. The language teachers will be pleased!

The Group that Fell Over the Most!

OK guys, you have been voting in your...ten...to predict which group fell over the most on this day's skiing. You were asked to choose from the groups only from the names of one of the people in that group - Edie B, George G, Sarah H or Tobey H. Well now the results are in...

Edie B was in the Beginner group and the number of falls was: 31.
George G was in the Lower Intermediate group and the group fell over 60 times - the most! Ouch!
Sarah H's group fell over the same amount of times as the beginner group, which is surprising because she and her groupmates are all experts(!)
Finally, the group with the least falls (well done) were the Higher Intermediate group fronted by Toby H, with only 19 falls between all of them, including two spectacular falls from Mr Brewer and Miss Illston, the latter of which was the result of a failed 180 degree trick off a small jump. The Kiwi has not suffered any serious injuries as a result of that fall, apart from a bruised bum!

So well done the Higher Intermediates, and bad luck the group below, who fell, on average, 4.5 times per person.
Well done if you guessed correctly, and see if you can be as lucky tomorrow!

My Dad's Injury

Here is our dad laying in the hospital looking rather comfortable. Becuase our father is out to impress he likes to go very fast on his snow board, however in doing this he has some how managed to snap his acillies. He has really cool crutches though :)  Me and Joe are just jealous that her got a ride on a skidoo! By Ella and Joe Williams.

The Test and Snow

Today, all the groups took part in the Test. First the beginners, they practiced their basic balance skills, then the intermediate tested their paralell turns, carving and straight control, and finally the expert group tested carving, short turns, and long turns. The instructors, overall, were pleased with their achievements and progress throughout the week. You might be thinking this involed rigourous hard work, but infact it was a gentle one by one ski to a bottom of a slope.

However, this all started just before the snow came down. Yes, it has finally snowed! Miss Browns, and Mr.Williams weather report was, once again, correct. A light scattering staeted mid-way throught the afternoon lesson and has continued to do so since, even at the time of writing this blog. We hope the snow continues troughout the night so we can wake up to a white day tomorrow (I wish)

Let It Snow, Let it Snow!

Wednesday's Prune of the Day

Today's Prune of the Day goes to Lucie Newman, who was nominated by our head boy Eddie. Lucie was nominated for skiing down the mountain on 1 ski in hot pursuit of her other one, after a minor fall.
Congratulations Lucie the One Ski Wonder, that hat really suits the outfit!
That's two nominations Eddie, WATCH OUT THE EYES ARE ON YOU!!!

Champions League Football

Hello everyone

After we had finished skiing this afternoon we had the option of Gestures or 5 a side football. As some of you may know I am a bit of a man so decided that I would play football with the boys. The game went well although there was a bit of rough play (jake and jack) who decided that they would hold each other back leaving the ball wide open. Anyway we got to the end of the game and we agreed that the next goal would win but.... after the team  Iwas not had scored it was then decided hat that rule was silly and that the other team should have won. They are still arguing now and will probably be tomorrow!

Gestures

Hi Gang,
This afternoon we had the very fun options of either playing 5 a side football or playing gestures.  As you all know I am amazing at football but I didn't want to show up the boys, so I played Gestures.  Head Boy, Eddie Howe has a bit of a reputation for Gestures, as his infamous performance last year isnt easily forgotten.  This year he didnt disappoint and got suitably angry at his team for not guessing 'hotdog.'  His actions for 'Belly Dancing' were also quite entertaining :).  Shannon also got some funny looks with her contributions to the game and her guesses were rather... odd.  Unfortunately my team lost :( but Kirsten and Laurens team won with a very respectable 52 points, some of which were gained by Ella's Ant impression.  Obviously my team was the best but we were just pipped at the post :)

My Week :D

Hey everyone at home! the trip so far has been so good! Everyone is definitely enjoying themselves but we are all very tired! The journey over took a seemingly long 18 hours, but it actually went rather quickly. the hardest part was definitely the sleeping; for a person like me with long legs it was very hard to get comfortable! The skiing is of course the best part of the day for everyone. I love skiing. It's really one of the best things i've done in a long time. Today I went off with Miss Brown, Mrs Hacker, Sophie Compton and Martin Head for a few green runs down hill. It was so much fun; I LOVE GOING FAST :) Today was annually 'Whingey Wednesday', everyones achey and tired and very whingey, however the teachers were very upbeat and happy! Looking forward to tomorrow lots and lots.
Love,
Your new amazing Sports Captain

Tuesday's Prune of The Day

Todays prune of the day goes to Connor, who was nominated by Eddie. Eddie was unfortunate on the recieving end of one of Connor's so called jumps. Connor decided that the best landing strip was  Eddie's back. Connor not only recieved 30 votes for our school but also a full house of votes from another one in the hotel.
Connor "Terminal 1" Gorsuch recieved his award from yesterdays winner Milly.

Mr Payne the help-FALL teacher

After spending the day helping to pick up members of the begineers group Mr Payne has been awarded the Help-FALL guy award as he spetacularly came to the rescue whilst keeping a very low profile in front of Mr Williams and the other teachers

Jamie and Gozzers:- The Crash Test Dummies

Today I have seen lots of falls but the most have been caused by Jamie and Gozzers the crash test dummies. Jamie and Gozzers always stay at the back and fall behind, then try to catch back up. When trying to catch up they ski too fast and fall all the time. When they fall the whole group has to stop and wait for them to get and catch back up. Even Mr. Brewer has picked Gozzers up out of a gully.

Prune Of The Day

Today's award for Prune of the Day goes to Milly, who was kindly nominated by JB.
Milly was given the award for her amazing  ditch jump, or should I say not quite a ditch jump. According to JB and his group she decided that instead of clearing the ditch she would ski tip the bank, forward flip/roll over the lip and land on her posterior to continue skiing.
To Milly the Ditch, we salute you!!!!

FACEPLANT!

The first (and hopefully last) major injury of the holiday was incurred by Matt, who you can see smiling at you through his swollen eye. on a run down, he went over a large bump, saw there was an outcrop of rock (snow conditions are poor) and promptly fell onto it. OUCH! The result of this was a cut eyelid, with swelling and bruising around the affected area. Hope you get better soon!

The Prefects Hand Out Breakfast

Now we shall travel back in time...
And on the second day, they rose. After a sleepy start the coach party pulled into a service station where the Year 10's handed out breakfast. Service was enthusiastic for the most part, but a certain Sports Captain (Jake) was a bit... grumpy, to say the least. Breakfast Rating: (on Mrs Hacker's Cornflake Scale) 3/5 - the pain au chocolats, although adequate, left a little to be desired.

years 10 like skiing :)

Everyone has been enjoying the ski time so far, luckily, but some strange things have been happening.

Allesammen har haft det sjovt till nu, Heldit!, Jem nonge merkelige ting har sket.

Matt Miles has had fun doing some tricks and showing how to handle the rocks. Smart boy! Hopefully no one will try what he has done.

Everyone have obviously had a great time of their life! Probably the sleeping has done most of the effect, but skiing has DENFIENTLY done the job. Sadly there is only snow on the mountains.... But it is doing a fabulous job.
