We can't believe it!!!!!!

This morning we were a little jaded after the runs we're getting a bit worn out. As we drove up the mountain we could not believe our eyes as it was snowing hard and fast big beautiful snow flakes. There was already about 20cm at the bottom of the chair lift and almost half a meter at the top. It was like Christmas morning! Snow angels, snow men, huge snowballs etc etc all accompanied by squeals of delight.
As it was test day the conditions were quite taxing for the skiers who had been skiing on a mixture of slush, ice and snow all week. However, they all did their best.
Tonight we have been out to a great disco in a local hotel along with some of the other schools. Even Mr Warde was seen strutting his stuff with Katie, Mikki, Daniel,Chris and Matt.
It seems too good to be true that we have not had any accidents at all....perhaps I am speaking too sooon...one day left.
I am sure that many of the children will be begging to come back next year. They have had an amazing experience and they have been a joy to be with.
See you all on Saturday about 6.00 pm.

Glacier

Skiing in the top group is fun, today we went up to the glacier which was very good as the snow was amazing. Our instructor is cool - everyone likes him. Tomorrow we hope to go to the glacier again depending on the weather. More updates will come.

After one and a half days of skiing I had improved so much that Miss Brown decided to move me and Callum up groups from beginner to lower intermediate, which I found was much better and it was more fun going down the harder slopes. Today I went down a red run which was challenging but I enjoyed it all the same. This evening we went out to the pizzeria next to the hotel, it was such a nice treat to have a big pizza, well deserved by everyone!
Skiing has been great so far, but I think everyone is aching somewhere. But all the same, I am really looking forward to tomorrow!

A day in the life of Trottski!

Today I fell over three times in the afternoon. But I did't in the morning. Mr brewer came in the afternoon and half way though I followed him and got more confident. The hotel is nice and the food is lovely. We are off for a pizza tonight. The skiing is fun and amazing we went over to the other side of the mountain and it was fun there was more snow than the other side .I like skiing it is fun and joyful.

Mr. Warde writes...

So, another day has come and gone in the Himalayas. There remains a disappointingly low harvest, with no major injuries to report, but with four days left the local bookies are offering very competitive odds.
I have been asked to offer some thoughts on the food. I took minor offence to this request, but am assured that this is not an indication of waist size. In the proverbial, it has been good. Unless you are a vegetarian, a concept unknown to our friends on the continent. Fortunately, the esteemed leader and her daughter are the only members of the party with this affliction so are the only ones enjoying egg many ways. Between me and thee, it is no surprise that they will have maintained their figures during the trip. The balance of the group are enjoying hearty foods with an Italian slant. Vegetables are scarce. Carbohydrates are plentiful. Children are happy.
The gap students are getting to grips with sarcasm and skiing, to varying degrees. Whilst our colleagues in the EU are unfamiliar with vegetarianism, South Africa clearly has a paucity of skiing opportunities and sarcastic fellows such as Mr. Williams and myself. As fellow beginners I think that I am in a position to say that they are learning well... But the spirit and effort of the pupils in the beginner group has been extraordinary. Of particular note has been the camaraderie, particularly amongst the younger pupils.
The hotel is excellent, and sharing a room with Mr. Brewer has not been the unmitigated disaster that I foresaw. Snow is forecast, and morale is high.

A note to the parents of Jack Buckley: please let him know that things are ok and that he is welcome home at the end of the week. He is concerned at the stony ground upon which his multiple text messages home have fallen.

In good spirits,
Mr. Warde

Rookwood stars

Oh happy day....lots of smiles and laughter today...your children are having a ball. Stars of the day include Hannah Folkes and Callum Pierce who were both moved up groups today after only one days skiing. Daniel Vine was a superstar after spending a very wobbly morning he skied down a blue run with ease this afternoon....great achievement. Ethan Holloway was awarded Prune of the day for skiing over a bridge without snow whilst everyone else took the snowy route!Christopher Long is keeping us all organised along with Georgina Mc Shane. Miss Brigando and Mr Warde have found their ski legs today and are totally smitten with the sport. Snow was seen falling on the higher slopes today and lots is expected tomorrow...it is desperately needed.

It was a long way by coach but the children were great....not a single...are we nearly there yet? Today was full of sunshine and skiing. The beginners managed to all master the drag lift...even Georgia who fell off four times oh yes and off the chair lift at the top...don't worry Mrs Yates she was safe and on the ground but fell over. The traumas of the day involve Sam Jinks loosing his lift pass very expensive mistake, Matt Chant braking his sky pole, Mr Warde not falling over...yes this was a trauma to him! The positives....oh so many the kids are having a ball. Bed time now...we will try to post some pictures tomorrow. Don't hesitate to text if you need to. Liz Brown
